With 2026 coming soon, there are still multiple quality names available on the free agent market across the MLB landscape. This is especially true within he pitching department, most notably starters.
*PREDICTION*
One of the better names still left on the open market is veteran right-hander Zac Galleb, who has spent the last few years with the Arizona Diamondbacks. Gallen has been one of the better starters over the years for Arizona, and he could cash in this winter.
In 33 starts for Arizona this past season. Gallen posted an ERA of 4.83. The veteran right-hander also struck out 175 batters over 192 innings of work, while also putting up a WHIP of 1.26.
The big thing for Gallen is that this season, he proved that he could stay healthy, which could help free agent negotiations. Arizona did place a qualifying offer on him, but he is good enough that teams may be willing to part with a draft pick to land him.
It wasn’t the season that he would have liked to see before free agency, but Gallen still has strong stuff on the mound. Multiple teams could use his services, and he could be a strong investment for any club.

Zac Gallen Lands With Miami Marlins
One sleeper team that could look to go after someone like Gallen this offseason could be the Miami Marlins. Miami came close to reaching the postseason last season, and this success could see the front office look to spend some money this offseason.
The Marlins have already added star relief pitcher Pete Fairbanks in free agency, and we could now see the team look to bolster the starting rotation. While the Marlins don’t necessarily need another starting pitcher, teams can never have enough arms for the long season.
Adding someone like Gallen to the mix would give this team a true ace to lead the rotation forward, and it could give Miami some needed flexibility as well. The Marlins have been dealing with trade rumors around some of the starters on the roster, and the team could look to sign Gallen, then move one of the other arms to address another hole on the roster.
Overall, the Marlins could be a strong landing spot for Gallen since they could be a potential playoff team next season. With how in flux the rest of the National League East is right now, Miami could be a sneaky pick to win next year.
Gallen could fit in well with the Marlins, and this team could use him to bolster the pitching staff for the next few seasons as they try to get back to the playoffs. Miami can be a sleeping giant when it comes to being competitive, and Gallen could be one of the building blocks for this franchise moving forward.
