After coming off a bounce back season and a World Series appearance, it was expected that Bo Bichette would’ve been signed quickly in free agency. That didn’t happen, and Bichette still remains a free agent as the month of December gets ready to come to a close. This leaves the door open for speculation still as to where he could end up signing.
*Prediction*
With Bo Bichette’s talents, his best fit would be on a contending team, and the team that makes the most sense to sign him is the Chicago Cubs.

At first glance, the Chicago Cubs might seem like an interesting team to be interested in signing Bo Bichette, but in reality, Bichette is someone that could help take the Cubs over the top in 2026. There have already been rumors that Chicago could look to trade Nico Hoerner as he is set to become a free agent next offseason, and before he walks for nothing in return, Chicago could look to trade him.
Then there is third base, where Matt Shaw showed some promise down the stretch of the season, but had his fair share of struggles as well, and for a Cubs team that is ready to compete, they need to give Shaw more time to develop before fully relying on him as the starter, if this is the case, the Cubs could look to move Hoerner over to third base. Yet, this still leads to a void at second base. But, that is where Bo Bichette comes in.
Bo Bichette, after having better defensive success playing second base in the World Series, has made it known that he is open to a full-time switch over to second base rather than continuing to play shortstop. By signing Bichette, the Cubs would be able to switch their lineup around a bit a be able to get the best players out there to maximize the potential of their roster.
With Bo Bichette coming off a season in which he had a resurgence in offensive production to produce a .311/.357/.483 slash line with 18 home runs and 94 runs batted in, he would be the ideal player to help boost the Cubs’ roster as a whole as they look to go all-in this season and make sure their championship window doesn’t go to waste.
