The Cuban infielder Dayán Viciedo has signed a contract with the Yokohama DeNA BayStars to play in the 2026 season of the Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB), as confirmed by several sources citing the organization itself in recent hours.
Viciedo, 36 years old, had already worn the Yokohama uniform during the final stretch of the 2025 season, a period in which he demonstrated offensive stability despite joining the team late, noted journalist Francys Romero on the social network Facebook.
During that period, he recorded an average of .259, with 2 home runs and 6 RBIs, performances that were enough to convince the management to bet on him again.
Before returning to the NPB, the slugger began his year in the Mexican Baseball League (LMB), where he aimed to regain his competitive rhythm after leaving the Chunichi Dragons, a team with which he built a long and distinguished career in Japan.
With this signing, Viciedo extends his career in the demanding Japanese baseball league and strengthens a BayStars team looking to add depth and experience to their lineup. His presence also reinstates a Cuban player in a significant role within one of the most competitive leagues in the world.
