Nathaniel Lowe ended up hitting free agency a bit unexpectedly as he ended up being non-tendered by the Boston Red Sox. With teams that have missed out on signing Josh Naylor, and Pete Alonso, they could look to Nathaniel Lowe as a secondary option to fill out their first base spot.
*Prediction*
One of the teams that has a void at first base that they need to fill and could look to sign Nathaniel Lowe is the Texas Rangers.

Texas Rangers Sign Nathaniel Lowe in MLB Free Agency
The current first baseman for the Texas Rangers is Jake Burger, and after coming to MLB with immense expectations, he ended up underdelivering, which could lead to the Rangers looking elsewhere in the meantime to get better production out of their first base spot, and give Burger more time to develop.
The direction the Rangers could go is signing Nathaniel Lowe. When it comes to Lowe, he played for Texas for four seasons and ended up with a .274/.359/.432 slash line, 78 home runs, and 229 runs batted in during that span. Now, Lowe’s production in 2025 took a steep decline to start, but that was when he was with the Washington Nations, when he ended up in a winning situation on the Boston Red Sox,, his production increased.
The Texas Rangers can provide Nathaniel Loe with another winning situation as they aren’t far off from the 2023 World Series season, and had finished 2025 with a 81-81 record. Lowe is able to be a factor on offense, and can provide serviceable defense as a Gold Glove Award winner. The familiarity factor will help be the main factor that could get the deal done this offseason.
