The Baltimore Orioles have had one of the most active offseasons so far this winter. They’ve added a ton of talent both in the pitching staff and the lineup.

While their additions of Taylor Ward, Pete Alonso, and Ryan Helsley have been important, the addition of Shane Baz in a blockbuster trade might be the most impactful.
Not only has his addition made the rotation much better, according to Barry Jackson of The Miami Herald, the Orioles are also no longer involved in the trade market for one of the Miami Marlins top starting pitchers in a 6’5” righty.
Orioles no longer interested in trade for Marlins righty
“Marlins will listen on Cabrera,” Jackson reports, “but 2 suitors (Houston, Baltimore) are no longer involved, and Marlins don’t want to sell short on him.”

The Orioles don’t need to add to their rotation anymore, and while they were previously interested in Edward Cabrera, they have no such need after trading for Baz from the Tampa Bay Rays.
They are still looking to add a starting pitcher to this rotation, but that won’t likely come in the form of a trade, as they’re instead eyeing free agent rotation options.

Ranger Suarez, Framber Valdez, Zac Gallen, or Tatsuya Imai are the most likely options for the Orioles to sign this winter.
Cabrera, a 3.53 ERA right-hander who is under club control through the 2028 season, is a great trade target. But, after the huge amount of capital spent on Baz, the Orioles aren’t likely to be as active in trade talks this winter.

They could look to make another deal or two, but it likely won’t come in the form of a starting pitcher, and according to this report, it won’t be with the Marlins for Cabrera.
