The Cincinnati Reds made an under-the-radar trade on Saturday.

The deal was reported by Gordon Wittenmyer of the Cincinnati Enquirer: Dane Myers is coming from the Miami Marlins to the Reds in exchange for outfield prospect Ethan O’Donnell.
Myers is an intriguing outfield talent that should make the MLB roster for the Reds.
He entered pro baseball as a pitching draft pick in 2017 by the Detroit Tigers, but he converted to a hitter in 2019.
He ended up making his MLB debut with the Marlins in 2023.
He has 172 MLB games so far with a .245 average and solid centerfield defense.

In 2025, Myers stole 18 bases and hit six home runs.

He has one of the top outfield arms in baseball and is also in the top quarter of the league in sprint speed.
The Reds could count on Myers at least on the short-side of an outfield platoon against left-handed pitching, and at 29 years old, he could still prove capable of playing every day in a pinch.
The given up outfielder O’Donnell played the entire 2025 season at Double-A Chattanooga and hit .236 with seven home runs and 20 stolen bases.

It certainly doesn’t seem like a big cost to give up to get a sure-thing major league player like Myers.
