The Chicago Cubs look to get the most out of a recently-injured Hunter Harvey. The two sides agreed to a one-year deal per reports.
RHP Hunter Harvey is looking to log a healthy, full season for an organization that knows how to get the best out of its’ pitching staff.
As the bullpen is coming into focus, it appears the Chicago Cubs’ latest addition could be one of it’s last to the group. Veteran righty Hunter Harvey is the latest potential bounce back option to be joining the club after agreeing to terms on Saturday, per a source.
It’s a surprising contrast from the other additions this offseason in that Harvey brings a lot more velocity to the bullpen. The Cubs have a great track record when it comes to reclamation bullpen arms and this situation is ripe as the potentially latest example. It’s a solid addition based on the makeup alone as the veteran will look to compliment his soft tossing counterparts.
With only 12 appearances in 2025, the veteran was unable to continue his dominance of a 0.00 ERA. He’ll look to put his best foot forward for a team that will need him at his best and healthiest if they think they can replicate the same success from the 2025 bullpen.

After starting his career with the Baltimore Orioles, the veteran really found his footing as a member of the Washington Nationals’ bullpen. He and Kyle Finnegan made up a dynamic back end for a struggling Nationals team. After logging solid seasons there, Harvey couldn’t really replicate that after a deadline deal to the Kansas City Royals in 2024.
The Cubs are certainly banking on Harvey returning to his Washington form. If they can get that out of the righty, this could potentially be the team’s best move of the offseason at a fraction of the cost for a top reliever on a playoff caliber team.
Since there is risk, the drawback is still minimal on a small commitment that could end during the season if there isn’t a solid return on the investment.
