While there is still a lot of offseason left to go around the MLB, the Baltimore Orioles may be having one of the better ones in recent memory. After missing the playoffs once again, the Orioles were rumored to be one of the few teams looking to spend this winter, and the front office has more than completed that promise.

*PREDICTION*

The team first traded for slugging outfielder Taylor Ward from the Los Angeles Angels, helping to give the team a little more breathing room for the outfield moving forward. Next, Baltimore added veteran relief pitcher Ryan Helsley, helping to round out the bullpen that was a massive problem in 2025.

But the big piece to the puzzle added this offseason was the Orioles agreeing to a deal with slugger Pete Alonso, signing him to a five-year contract. Alonso has been one of the best power-hitting guys in the league over the years, and the Baltimore offense should be lights out now with him added.

The Orioles now have one of the strongest lineups in all of baseball, and the front office should now turn its attention to the starting rotation. Baltimore has struggled to find consistency from the starting pitchers over the years, and they never replaced ace Corbin Burnes when he left in free agency a year ago.

If Baltimore could land around two pitchers for the rotation, and maybe one more bullpen piece, this team could seriously contend for the World Series. But it now starts with the front office addressing the problem, and how they plan to go about this remains to be seen.

Baltimore Orioles Sign Ranger Suarez

One option for the Orioles’ brass to consider could be going after left-hander pitcher Ranger Suarez. Suarez has spent the last few years with the Philadelphia Phillies, and he has already drawn interest from multiple teams across the league.

With Philadelphia, Suarez posted a solid 3.20 ERA in 26 starts, showing some nice consistency on the mound. Suarez could be a very valuable piece for this Orioles team, giving them a reliable arm that can take over at the top of a rotation.

In 104 starts for the Phillies, Suarez has had a combined ERA of 3.59 in 104 starts. The Orioles could easily use someone like this, and he could help take this team over the top.

While Suarez has seen some decline in his fastball’s velocity, the left-hander has found different ways to succeed on the mound. Now, he is looking to cash in on the open market, but since he isn’t an ace, he won’t cost a team too much.

Suarez could slot into a No. 2 or No. 3 role with the Orioles, giving this staff some depth. Baltimore could then go out to sign another pitcher for the rotation, helping the team fully round out everything for the 2026 season.
