As the MLB offseason and free agency continues, so do the trade rumors surrounding Brendan Donovan. It is clear the Cardinals have made it known that they are open to making trades to restructure the team better for the future by trading Sonny Gray and Willson Contreras, so it makes sense Donovan would be next.
*Prediction*
When it comes to Brendan Donovan, there are bound to be plenty of suitors for him, but one team that could make sense as the destination in the end is the San Francisco Giants.

The San Francisco Giants are right on the cusp of truly being contenders once again in the National League West Division, and to make sure they don’t fall behind, they need to be looking to make more adjustments to spots on their team to solidify both their batting lineup and defense.
One of the big things for Sn Francisco is getting better players in their outfield, as Luis Matos has been unable to maintain consistent success. The depth behind him doesn’t get much better as Jerar Encarnacion has faed injury issues, and Justin Dean has provided great defense, but has offered virtually nothing to the offense. This makes right field a major liability.
Heliot Ramos, and Jung-Hoo Lee also haven’t been the most efficient outfielders, showing overall that the Giants need someone they can rely on in the outfield, but also need more versatility when it comes to their infield. Luckily for them, that is where Brendan Donovan comes into play as he can fill in both as an infielder or outfielder.
What makes Brendan Donovan an ideal trade target is he has emerged as one of the most consistent players in MLB. He has a career slash line of .282/.361/.411 with 40 home runs and 202 runs batted in. This follows a season in which he had a .287/.353/.422 slash line with 10 home runs and 50 runs batted in.
Pairing someone with the offensive impact in the batting lineup alongside Willy Adames, Matt Chapman, and Rafael Devers would greatly help propel the Giants further, and with him being on an ideal contract that makes him arbitration eligible through 2027, the Giants would get security from him over the next few seasons without having to worry about him hitting free agency anytime soon.
