In May, the concession stand was vandalized and severely burned, according to the

Western Duluth Little League’s website,

with items such as first aid supplies, an electronic defibrillator machine, tables, chairs, trophies, hats, shirts, refrigerators, and concession supplies destroyed in the incident. A

$10,000 GoFundMe campaign

was started and exceeded the goal, with $10,200 raised for restoration after the first incident.

In Friday’s Facebook post, the league’s board of directors said they’re devastated by the latest incident and are asking for the public’s help to move forward and continue to serve the more than 150 little league players who participate each baseball season. Our newsroom occasionally reports stories under a byline of “staff.” Often, the “staff” byline is used when rewriting basic news briefs that originate from official sources, such as a city press release about a road closure, and which require little or no reporting. At times, this byline is used when a news story includes numerous authors or when the story is formed by aggregating previously reported news from various sources. If outside sources are used, it is noted within the story.
