A former Clemson baseball slugger and first-round MLB draft pick is set to make his big league debut almost six years after being selected.

Logan Davidson, who played for the Tigers under Monte Lee from 2017-19, is reportedly joining the Athletics‘ big league roster after a hot start at Triple-A. The switch-hitting infielder is batting .303 with two home runs, 10 doubles and 22 RBIs in 41 games for the Las Vegas Aviators, the A’s affiliate in the Pacific Coast League. He’s reached base at a .452 clip.

Now 27, Davidson has spent parts of six seasons in the minor leagues. He batted .302 with 15 home runs, 23 doubles and 54 RBIs at Triple-A last season. This year, he’s played first base primarily but has moved around the infield and outfield quite a bit throughout his career, including shortstop and second base.

While at Clemson, Davidson hit 45 home runs and batted .290 in 187 games across three seasons with the Tigers. He was drafted 29th overall by the Oakland A’s in 2019.

The Athletics (22-29) entered Friday having lost nine straight games. They host the Philadelphia Phillies this weekend for a three-game series in their temporary home, Sutter Health Park in Sacramento.
