Per The Athletic’s Dan Hayes, the minority investors will take on more than 20 percent of the Twins at a $1.75 billion valuation. The transaction will help the team significantly reduce its $500 million debt.

The Twins also announced that Tom Pohlad will succeed his younger brother, Joe Pohlad, in overseeing the organization. He will also succeed his uncle Jim Pohlad as the club’s Control Person, pending MLB approval.

Twins sign first baseman Josh Bell, three relievers after trading for righty Eric Orze

Earlier in the month, the Twins signed switch-hitting first baseman Josh Bell, 33, to a one-year, $7 million deal. He will likely split time with Kody Clemens at first base and frequently serve as the designated hitter. He hit .237/.325/.417 (110 OPS+) in 140 games with the Washington Nationals this past season. He has been worth 8.6 bWAR since making his MLB debut in 2016.

Minnesota has also signed righty relievers Yehizon Sanchez, Grant Hartwig and Dan Altavilla to minor league deals this offseason. The Twins also traded for righty reliever Eric Orze, who had a 3.02 ERA in 33 MLB games last season, from the Tampa Bay Rays for righty pitcher Jacob Kisting in November.

Several memorable former Twins have found new homes this offseason. Corner infielder Jos Miranda has signed a minor league deal with the San Diego Padres, righty reliever Jorge Alcal has signed a minor league deal with the Toronto Blue Jays and first baseman Tyler Austin has signed a one-year, $1.25 million deal with the Chicago Cubs after spending six seasons in Japan.

Several Twins expected to compete in 2026 World Baseball Classic

Right-handed starting pitcher Joe Ryan joined back-to-back Cy Young Award winners Tarik Skubal and Paul Skenes, and Giants righty Logan Webb on Team USA’s starting rotation for the 2026 World Baseball Classic. Byron Buxton is expected to be on the provisional roster for Team USA and should eventually be on the final roster as well. Additionally, righty Pablo Lpez is expected to compete for Team Venezuela.
