Four team, 18-game Round Robin Playoff

Leones del Escogido (3-0) 4, Gigantes del Cibao (0-3) 2 – Elier Hernandez’ two-run double in the top of the eighth scored Raimel Tapia with the go-ahead run, and Pedro Severino’s two-out single scored Hernandez to give the Leones a bit of insurance as the defending champs improved to 3-0 in the 18-game round robin. Six Leones relievers combined to allow just one hit and two walks over the final four innings.

Toros del Este (2-1) 7, Aguilas Cibaenas (1-2) 6 – Gilberto Celestino had an RBI single, and Luis Liberato hit a two-run homer in the top of the sixth to put the Toros ahead for good as the Toros improved to 2-1 in the round robin. Liberato finished the game 2-for-5 with four RBIs, having given the Toros a 3-1 lead in the top of the second with a two-run single. Leody Taveras and Jonatan Clase each had solo homers for the Aguilas.

Two-game Wild Card Series

Tigres de Aragua (1-0) 5, Caribes de Anzoategui (0-1) 4 – After a passed ball allowed Leobaldo Cabrera to scoot home and tie the game for Aragua, an RBI single by Alberth Martinez scored Yorman Rodriguez with the go-ahead run, and the Tigres survived a ninth-inning rally by Anzoategui to reach the second game of the wild card series. Veteran infielder Hernan Perez hit a solo homer in the second and Andruw Monasterio hit a solo homer to get the Caribes within one in the bottom of the ninth. The winner of Game 2 will advance to the five-team, 16-game round robin playoff.
