Luis Arraez

As the MLB free agency period continues, Luis Arraez remains a free agent that has yet to sign with a team, or even be heavily linked to any team he could sign with. That should be changing, though.

*Prediction*

With Pete Alonso having already signed, it leads to the market for first base shifting in free agency. This will also lead to Luis Arraez’s market growing, and the team that makes sense to have interest in signing him is the Texas Rangers.

Texas Rangers Sign Luis Arraez in MLB Free Agency

The Texas Rangers have tried to make cuts to adjust their payroll ahead of the 2026 MLB season, so they don’t seem to be looking to make any splash signings, but they still need help with their roster if they are going to be competitive in 2026.

The biggest need for the Rangers is finding someone that can add a power boost to their lineup, and that is exactly what signing Luis Arreaz can help with. Arraez is coming off a 2025 season in which he had a .292/.327/.392 slash line, eight home runs, and 61 runs batted in. Over his career, Arraez has a .317/.363/413 slash line, showing his consistency with getting on base.

By adding someone with Luis Arraez’s batting ability, he would provide a huge boost to the Rangers’ lineup alongside Corey Seager and Wyatt Langford, which is something Texas lacked last season. Signing Arraez would also solve their first base issue, as while Jake Burger showed flashed, he also struggled with his consistency.

With adding Luis Arraez on a one-year deal, he can help give Burger more time to develop, while helping the Rangers be a competitive team this season.
