The Baltimore Orioles have had quite the MLB offseason so far, and while they have been aggressive with moves like signing Pete Alonso and trading for Shane Baz, they still need to be looking for ways to continue to advance the team. One way in which they can do so is by trading players that don’t fit their team anymore, and one of those players in Adley Rutschman.
*This is a prediction*
When it comes to Adley Rutschman, he will have many teams interested in him if the Orioles go through with a trade, but the team that makes the most sense to acquire him is the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Baltimore Orioles Trade Adley Rutschman to the Pittsburgh Pirates
The Pittsburgh Pirates are another team that has been aggressive throughout free agency so far as they signed Ryan O’Hearn, and traded for Brandon Lowe, Jhostynxon GarcÃa, and Gregory Soto, but need to be looking to make more moves if they want to fully round out their roster and make a full effort to compete in 2026.
One of the spots that the Pirates still need to address on the roster is their catcher spot, and how they can do so if they can’t sign JT Realmuto in free agency, is to trade for Adley Rutschman.
At the MLB trade deadline, it was rumored that the Pirates were looking to trade for Adley Rutshcman, but a deal never went through. This offseason, though, the Pirates should be looking to initiate another trade for Rutschman.
With the Orioles having just extended Samuel Basallo to an eight-year contract, it creates less of a need for them to keep Adley Rutschman, especially after he had an injury-riddled season. When Rutschman is fully healthy, his talent is still recognizable as he has put together a career slash line of .254/.344/.412 with 61 home runs, and 230 runs batted in.
If Adley Rutschman can bounce back, as he should with entering just his fifth season in MLB, he can get back on track offensively and provide further value. His defense behind the plate is already elite with his framing, and blocking, but if he can add the offensive skills back to that, he will be the ideal catcher for the Pirates.
