The New York Yankees desperately need to make some moves to get back to the top of the American League East. The Toronto Blue Jays won the division and the pennant last year. Now the Blue Jays have added Dylan Cease, among others, in free agency.
The Yankees need to get aggressive in free agency this winter. They could also look to swing a trade or two. But the most likely scenario sees the Yankees waiting until the trade deadline to make any blockbuster deals.
Pete Caldera of NorthJersey predicted the Yankees would swing a trade with the Miami Marlins to acquire their ace, Sandy Alcántara, next season.

“Will Warren and pitching prospect Bryce Cunningham are part of a late July trade package to Miami in exchange for Marlins starter Sandy Alcantara,” Caldera wrote.
Alcántara would fit perfectly with the Yankees. He struggled early in the year last year, but he found his stride down the stretch for the first time since undergoing Tommy John surgery a few years ago.
It would take a lot of prospect capital to pull Alcántara away from the Marlins, but the Yankees could package Will Warren and others to pull it off.
The Yankees need to add some starting pitching talent because of the question marks surrounding Gerrit Cole and Clarke Schmidt as they recover from arm injuries. Adding Alcántara, who looked very good down the stretch last year, would be the security blanket the Yankees desperately need.
