As the 2026 MLB offseason continues on, Freddy Peralta’s name continues to be brought up in trade conversations. If the Milwaukee Brewers don’t see Peralta as part of their long-term plans, then they need to trade him now before he hits free agency after the season, and they get no value back in return for him.
*Prediction*
The most common teams linked to having interest in trading for Freddy Peralta have been the New York Yankees and Los Angeles Dodgers. Yet, another team makes the most sense to trade for Peralta, and that team is the Boston Red Sox.

The Boston Red Sox have been aggressive this offseason so far, and it doesn’t seem like that are planning on being done anytime soon. After making the playoffs last season, the Red Sox know they are in their championship window, and they are doing whatever they can to make sure this period isn’t wasted.
The Red Sox already made trades this offseason by acquiring Willson Contreras, Johan Oviedo, and Sonny Gray, but for them to solidify themselves as contenders, they should look to continue to round out their pitching rotation. They have their true ace in Garrett Crochet, but should be looking for a third quality starter to pair at the top with Crochet and Gray if they want to make sure pitching is not an issue at all in 2026.
Trading for Freddy Peralta would provide the exact solution they need. With Peralta he is just 29 years old still, and has had a solid five year stretch in which he has posted just a 3.30 ERA, and also is coming off a 2025 season in which he had a career-low 2.70 ERA. With Peralta, just scratching the surface of his potential, he would be the ideal pitcher for the Red Sox to add if they are looking to fully solidify their pitching to be championship caliber.
