John Kruk, the Philadelphia Phillies’ broadcaster and former first baseman, will be the keynote speaker at the United Disabilities Services Foundation Gala on April 30 at the Lancaster Marriott at Penn Square.

Kruk will sit for a fireside chat-style interview, conducted by Philadelphia Eagles insider Dave Spadaro, as part of the event. Doors will open at 4:30 p.m. and the event will last to approximately 8:30.

Raffle tickets for $50 are available for an after-party VIP experience with Kruk. Only 250 tickets are being sold; 10 winners will be drawn on April 1 and announced live on Facebook.

Raffle tickets can be purchased through March 31 (or until sold out) on the UDS website (https://udservices.org/) with a credit card, or with a check or cash from a UDS employee, UDS board member or at the UDS corporate office at 2270 Erin Court, Lancaster, Mondays through Fridays from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.

Tickets for the gala will go on sale this month.

Kruk, who was inducted into the Phillies Wall of Fame in 2011, played in six of his 10 major league seasons for the Phillies.

He was a three-time All-Star and hit .309 with 62 home runs, 390 RBIs and a .861 OPS while with Philadelphia from 1989-94). He helped the beloved 1993 Phillies win the National League title.

Kruk was diagnosed with testicular cancer in spring training in 1994 but missed just six games at the start of that season.

In his career, which included stints with the San Diego Padres and Chicago White Sox, Kruk hit .300.

He also became known, perhaps even more than his playing talents, for his self-deprecating humor, wit and sense of timing. That has helped lead to his broadcasting career. Kruk completed his 10th season (2003, 2017-25) as a color analyst with the Phillies in 2025.

Before returning to the Phillies in 2017, he spent 13 years with ESPN as a color commentator and studio analyst. He also worked for Fox.
