The Texas Rangers have started to make their stance on Josh Jung clear throughout the 2026 MLB offseason so far, and this is that he isn’t going to be part of their long-term future as they try to prepare to bring their top prospect, Sebastian Walcott, up to the main roster.

When it comes to Josh Jung, he is just 27 years old and is coming off an up-and-down 2025 season in which he had a .251/.294/.390 slash line with 14 home runs and 64 runs batted in. With having played in just four seasons so far, Jung still has more potential to be unlocked and talent to be tapped into.
Josh Jung is under contract through 2028, so there would be no concerns with him entering free agency soon after they trade for him, and would allow for him to become Boston’s long-term third baseman.
