The Red Sox will hold their annual Rookie Development Program next week at Fenway Park, which aims to help prepare young players for life in the big leagues.

This year’s camp will include infielders Franklin Arias and Mikey Romero, left-handers Jake Bennett, Shane Drohan and Tyler Samaniego, and right-handers Tyler Uberstine and Ryan Watson.

The participants include many of the club’s top prospects, along with several newcomers who have joined the Red Sox organization this offseason.

Arias is currently regarded as the top position player prospect in the Red Sox organization following the graduations of Roman Anthony, Marcelo Mayer and Kristian Campbell. The 20-year-old is coming off a strong season that saw him rise from Low-A to Double-A, and while he’s unlikely to reach the majors in 2026 he is viewed as a key part of the club’s long-term future.

Romero, who was Boston’s top pick in the 2022 MLB Draft, ahead of even Anthony, enjoyed a breakout 2025 after battling injuries throughout his early career. The 21-year-old finished the season at Triple-A and hit nine home runs with a .745 OPS in 45 games following his promotion.

Uberstine and Drohan were each selected to Boston’s 40-man roster ahead of December’s Rule 5 Draft and will have an opportunity to compete for a spot on the staff this coming spring. Even if they start the season in Triple-A the pair are expected to provide rotation depth as the season goes along.

The same goes for Bennett, who was recently acquired from the Washington Nationals for Luis Perales in a prospect-for-prospect trade. Bennett has never pitched in the majors but posted a 2.27 ERA in 19 outings last season, finishing the year at Double-A, and now ranks as Boston’s No. 6 prospect according to Baseball America.

Watson and Samaniego are both relievers who have never appeared in the majors but who are expected to compete for spots in Boston’s bullpen.

Watson was acquired minutes after he was selected by the Athletics in the Rule 5 Draft, and as a result he must spend the entire season on Boston’s active roster or be offered back to his original club. Samaniego was acquired from the Pittsburgh Pirates in the Jhostynxon Garcia trade and is currently one of two lefty relievers on the Red Sox 40-man roster outside of closer Aroldis Chapman.

All seven participants are expected to appear at Fenway Fest this weekend before sticking around for the club’s rookie programming.
