CLEVELAND, Ohio — Beachwood native and Guardians’ assistant Brad Goldberg will join Team Isreal and serve as pitching coach for the team’s run in the 2026 World Baseball Classic. The Guardians confirmed the move Thursday.
Goldberg, 35, is set to begin his second season as an assistant pitching coach for Cleveland alongside Carl Willis. He previously served as the bullpen coach for manager Stephen Vogt in 2024.
Goldberg is familiar with Team Israel, earning a pair of saves for the squad during a qualifier tournament in 2016 and posting two scoreless appearances in the second round of play during the 2017 WBC.
Goldberg attended The Ohio State University and was a 10th round draft pick of the White Sox in 2013. After a six-year pro career with Chicago and Arizona, he spent two years as the director of pitching development at OSU.
In 2022, Goldberg joined Cleveland’s staff as a pitching development coach at the club’s Arizona academy and at Double-A Akron. Under Goldberg’s direction in 2023, RubberDucks pitchers posted the second-lowest ERA in the Eastern League (3.87). In 2024, Guardians relievers recorded an MLB-best 2.57 ERA, the lowest by a Cleveland club since 1954.
