The Pittsburgh Pirates have avoided arbitration with center fielder Oneil Cruz ($3.3 million), catcher Joey Bart ($2.53 million) and right-handed relievers Dennis Santana ($3.5 million) and Justin Lawrence ($1.225 million), a source told Pittsburgh Baseball Now.

Cruz totaled 135 games for the Pirates last season and slashed .200/.298/.378 with 18 doubles, three triples, 20 home runs, 61 RBI and led the National League with 38 stolen bases.

Bart slashed .249/.355/.340 with 12 doubles, one triple, four home runs and 30 RBI in 93 games and appeared in 83 games behind the plate.

Santana took over the closer role after the Pirates traded David Bednar to the New York Yankees at the trade deadline. He made a career-high 70 appearances and went 4-5 with a 2.18 ERA and 16 saves.

The Pirates acquired Lawrence last spring training via waivers from the Colorado Rockies. An elbow injury limited him to 17 appearances on the season and he finished having only allowed one run on nine hits with 23 strikeouts in 17.2 innings.

Thursday marked the arbitration exchange deadline, meaning the Pirates avoided arbitration with all of their remaining eligible players and will have no hearings this year.
