The Dodgers have completed an important task of their offseason plan, that being avoiding arbitration to eligible players. Four Dodgers, Brusdar Graterol, Alex Call, Anthony Banda and Brock Stewart, signed deals for the 2026 season to avoid arbitration this week, and now the team can march forward in their pursuits of available high-end talent.

After tremendous splurges the past two offseasons, it’s been a mostly quiet offseason for the Dodgers, with the two major moves of note so far being the signing of Edwin Díaz and bringing back Miguel Rojas for the swan song of his playing career. While the team already has a fantastic team on paper, their outfield ranks in the bottom half entering 2026 per FanGraphs projections. Mike Petriello of MLB.com lists the eight teams that need Kyle Tucker the most, placing the Dodgers within the top three teams in need of his services.

The need for an outfielder is clear, particularly if they do find a way to trade Teoscar Hernández, who had a generally disappointing year. Given that they’re the Dodgers, you probably wouldn’t want to count them out until Tucker is seen wearing another team’s uniform.

The Dodgers have one goal in the mind for the 2026 season— three-peat. Doing that would require an aging roster to perform to their fullest potential, but when considering players like Freddie Freeman, Mookie Betts and Max Muncy are entering their age-34+ seasons, the team now has to decide which young players will be able to step up and play key contributing parts this upcoming season. That is one of five questions that Katie Woo and Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic attempt to answer as the offseason reaches its final stages.

Prospects will get their chance… Gomes hinted at the possibility of days off for Freeman, which opens up at-bats for Dalton Rushing. Max Muncy has had issues staying on the field in recent seasons, which could spring open at-bats for Alex Freeland or Hyeseong Kim. Ryan Ward could earn a role as a left-handed bat if he continues to hit as he did in the minors. Perhaps names like Zach Ehrhard or James Tibbs III could see time in the bigs. Gavin Stone and River Ryan and other arms will be called upon.

To nobody’s surprise, the Dodgers rank as the best team in baseball in the first MLB power rankings of 2026. It’s pretty tough to outrank the defending two-time World Series champions.

Shohei Ohtani was at Dodger Stadium on Wednesday as he posted to his Instagram story of him doing some offseason workouts on the field. His dog, Decoy, was there as well playing fetch in the outfield with Ohtani and catching some zoomies in the team weight room.
