Let’s assume, for a moment, that the Phillies were done adding to their team. Logic would tell us that either J.T. Realmuto or Bo Bichette is going to be wearing red pinstripes once the team begins 2026 play, but without a signature, they can’t be part of the equation just yet. Without Realmuto at least, there is a major hole at catcher for the roster, but the rest of the roster is still pretty good. Compared to the rest of the National League that doesn’t play in Los Angeles, they should still sit near the top of contenders.

But are they closer to winning a World Series? That hole at catcher notwithstanding, they have made some moves that should keep them in title contention. We know that a lot of winning a trophy does depend on the ball bouncing your way more often than not, but having a good roster in the first place is a good place to start. The Phillies do have a good roster….but could use another addition (or two). Do they have enough right now?
