Ernie Clement is suiting up for his country.

The Toronto Blue Jays utilityman is the latest player to join the United States for the World Baseball Classic.

A native of Rochester, NY, the 29-year-old Clement is headed into his sixth big-league season and fourth with the Jays.

He appeared in 157 games last season, batting .277 with 151 hits, nine home runs and 50 runs batted in with an OPS of .711 and a 4.3 WAR. Clement had a monster postseason in the team’s run to the World Series, setting a new major league record with 30 hits, including 12 in the World Series.

Clement avoided arbitration with the Blue Jays last week, agreeing to a one-year, $4.6 million contract. The Virginia product is under team control through 2029.

Team USA will compete in Pool B alongside Mexico, Italy, Great Britain and Brazil. They open their tournament on March 6 against Brazil at Houston’s Daikin Park.
