MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) – On this day, Jan. 13, 1982, Hank Aaron was voted into the Baseball Hall of Fame.
In his first year of eligibility, Aaron received 97.8% of the vote.
Hammerin’ Hank’s career started in 1954 with the Braves until 1974, when he was traded back to Milwaukee to play for the Brewers.
He would go on to play two more seasons with the Brewers, and then retire in Milwaukee after playing for 23 seasons.
During his career, Aaron hit a total of 755 home runs. That’s the second most in MLB history.
Aaron was officially inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame on Aug. 1, 1982.
