The Milwaukee Brewers should be looking to trade their ace, Freddy Peralta, before opening day. Peralta sits on an expiring contract, and the Brewers don’t have the money to sign him to a contract extension.

The Brewers should be able to net a huge return for Peralta. There are bound to be more than a handful of suitors pursuing him if they opt to trade him, too.

Bleacher Report’s Joel Reuter put together a mock trade that would send Peralta to the Baltimore Orioles in exchange for Dylan Beavers, Cade Povich, and Joseph Dzierwa.

Milwaukee Brewers pitcher Freddy Peralta

“Despite trading for Shane Baz and re-signing Zach Eflin, the Orioles remain linked to the market’s top arms as they seek a proven frontline starter to join Trevor Rogers and Kyle Bradish who will both be searching for fully healthy seasons in 2026,” Reuter wrote. “If they’re not in love with Framber Valdez or Ranger Suarez as a potential fit, they have the farm system firepower for a ‘Corbin Burnes 2.0’ trade with Milwaukee.”

The Orioles need to add an ace as badly as any team in the league. They have a contending roster, but the pitching staff wasn’t good enough to keep them afloat last year.

Adding Peralta would be a huge move, but the Orioles would need to do everything in their power to sign him to an extension.

They proved they could spend the money by signing Pete Alonso this winter. If the Orioles can trade for Peralta and re-sign him to a new deal, they would be in the perfect spot going forward.
