The top 100 collegiate freshmen in baseball were announced today and Alabama had four of them inside the top 50.
Alabama freshmen Myles Upchurch was Alabama top rated freshmen at No. 30.
Upchurch, a freshman from Maryland, brings an elite arm to this Alabama pitching staff. He was the No. 2 overall high school pitcher in the state of Maryland and the No. 78 prospect overall.
Upchurch brings an upper 90s fastball with elite off-speed stuff. He is looking to make a big impact his first year with the Crimson Tide with a possible spot in the starting rotation.
Not far behind Upchurch, at No. 38, is Will Rhine. Rhine, a freshmen from Maryland, was the No. 2 high school shortstop in Maryland and the No. 63 overall shortstop.
Rhine was the 2024-25 Gatorade Player of the Year in Maryland and is a get-on-base machine with a .420 average and a .612 on base percentage. He sits right behind star Justin Lebron in the depth chart at shortstop, but has a bright future for the Crimson Tide.
Behind Rhine at No. 40 is Caleb Barnett. Barnett, freshmen from Alabama, was the No. 1 third basemen from Alabama and No. 2 third basemen overall. Barnett also pitches with having an upper 80s fastball with command.
The 6’6” freshmen brings right handed power and an elite arm. He provides the Crimson Tide the ability to be an asset on the field and in the bullpen.
Finally, the last Crimson Tide freshmen on this list at No. 47 is Eric Hines. Hines, a Tuscaloosa native, was the No. 1 outfielder in Alabama and the No. 8 outfielder overall.
Hines played at American Christian Academy in Tuscaloosa and is a pitchers worst nightmare. He brings raw power to the Crimson Tide and has a strong arm for the outfield.
The 2024-25 Gatorade Player of the Year in the state of Alabama has a bright future with the Crimson Tide and is going to be a star in this Alabama lineup in the future.
