2026 MLB Player Rankings
Welcome to my Top 10 Rankings by position for the 2026 MLB season! My goal for these rankings are projecting the most valuable player at each position by using a blend of past results, projections, and my own intuition. For each player I support my rankings and lay out my thoughts as to why I believe their deserved their placement. I also included a list of honourable mentions as well as a list of notable players that were not considered as they fall into a different position bucket.

Here are my Top 40 relief pitcher for 2026. Click a player’s name to jump to my writeup and reasoning for their ranking.
1) Mason Miller

Mason Miller
P, Age: 27, Throws: R, 6′ 5″/200 lbs
DOB: 1998-08-24, Pittsburgh, USA
2026 MLB Pitching Projections
SeasonIPERAWHIPK%BB%FIPWAR202561.22.630.9144.4%12.0%2.232.02026 Proj66.02.391.0039.8%9.6%2.312.3
Mason Miller has arguably the nastiest stuff in baseball and easily has the highest strikeout rate (43.1%) of any pitcher over the last two seasons. He is my clear choice as the #1 RP in MLB and projections share that same sentiment.
2) Cade Smith

Cade Smith
P, Age: 26, Throws: R, 6′ 5″/230 lbs
DOB: 1999-05-09, Vancouver, Canada
2026 MLB Pitching Projections
SeasonIPERAWHIPK%BB%FIPWAR202573.22.931.0034.7%6.3%1.952.72026 Proj70.02.971.1030.8%7.8%2.961.6
Cade Smith doesn’t have the same pizzazz as the flamethrowing closers that surround him on this list, but he sure has production to back up this ranking. He has accrued the most fWAR of any RP in each of his first two MLB seasons thanks to an incredible 3-pitch mix highlighted by an elite fastball, a devastating splitter, and hard sweeping-slider. He ties his arsenal together with upper echelon extension and plus command to be one of the most valuable relief arms in baseball.
3) Edwin Díaz

Edwin Díaz
P, Age: 31, Throws: R, 6′ 3″/165 lbs
DOB: 1994-03-22, Naguabo, Puerto Rico
2026 MLB Pitching Projections
SeasonIPERAWHIPK%BB%FIPWAR202566.11.630.8738.0%8.1%2.282.02026 Proj66.03.021.0933.8%8.9%2.911.7
Edwin Diaz turned back the clock last season to the tune of a 1.63 ERA and 2.28 FIP supported by an incredible 38.0 K%. This performance encouraged him to opt out of his lucrative deal with the Mets to land a larger payday in Los Angeles. His elite fastball-slider combo was cooking in 2025 and that is not expected to change heading into next season.
4) Jhoan Duran

Jhoan Duran
P, Age: 28, Throws: R, 6′ 5″/230 lbs
DOB: 1998-01-08, Esperanza, Dominican Republic
2026 MLB Pitching Projections
SeasonIPERAWHIPK%BB%FIPWAR202570.02.061.1027.9%6.6%2.352.12026 Proj70.02.781.1329.4%8.0%2.821.9
Jhoan Duran doesn’t have the same strikeout upside as his contemporaries, but he makes up for it with elite contact suppression. He increased his “splinker” usage in 2025 and posted the best year of his career. I expect that trend to hold next season in his first full year in Philadelphia.
5) Aroldis Chapman

Aroldis Chapman
P, Age: 37, Throws: L, 6′ 4″/235 lbs
DOB: 1988-02-28, Holguin, Cuba
2026 MLB Pitching Projections
SeasonIPERAWHIPK%BB%FIPWAR202561.11.170.7037.3%6.6%1.732.62026 Proj62.03.001.1833.8%10.9%3.021.5
Aroldis Chapman keeps on chugging along in his late thirties. The flamethrowing southpaw was arguably the best RP in baseball last season as he posted a 1.17 ERA and 1.73 FIP across 61.1 innings. His fastballs comfortably sit in the upper 90s and secondaries push him to elite status.
6) Andrés Muñoz

Andrés Muñoz
P, Age: 26, Throws: R, 6′ 2″/222 lbs
DOB: 1999-01-16, Los Mochis, Mexico
2026 MLB Pitching Projections
SeasonIPERAWHIPK%BB%FIPWAR202562.11.731.0332.7%11.0%2.431.92026 Proj64.02.911.1730.5%9.7%3.051.2
Andrés Muñoz stretch of dominance out of the Mariners bullpen has been a sight to behold since he latched onto a high-leverage role in 2022. He consistently posts elite strikeout numbers and is proficient at inducing suboptimal contact. His high-90s heat keeps batters on their toes and his wicked slider is one of the most effective pitches in MLB.
7) Adrian Morejon

Adrian Morejon
P, Age: 26, Throws: L, 5′ 11″/224 lbs
DOB: 1999-02-27, Havana, Cuba
2026 MLB Pitching Projections
SeasonIPERAWHIPK%BB%FIPWAR202573.22.080.9024.5%5.9%2.282.22026 Proj68.03.351.2124.8%8.0%3.500.9
Adrian Morejon is my favourite reliever (even though I think the Padres should test him out as a starter). He built upon his 2024 breakout campaign with a dominant 2025 where he stifled batters with his sinker heavy approach to induce a ton of weak contact. He has the capability to throw many pitches which allows him to adapt no matter the situation.
8) Josh Hader

Josh Hader
P, Age: 31, Throws: L, 6′ 3″/188 lbs
DOB: 1994-04-07, Millersville, USA
2026 MLB Pitching Projections
SeasonIPERAWHIPK%BB%FIPWAR202552.22.050.8536.9%7.8%3.251.12026 Proj66.03.291.1233.2%9.3%3.331.4
Before a shoulder injury cut Josh Hader’s season short, he was cruising. He posted an elite 36.9 K% to fuel his incredible 1.98 xERA. His sinker-slider combo prints whiffs & chases and forms a stable foundation for the electric southpaw. The biggest knock against Hader is that his extreme fly ball approach lends itself to a higher home run rate which is further inflated by his home park.
9) Griffin Jax

Griffin Jax
P, Age: 31, Throws: R, 6′ 2″/195 lbs
DOB: 1994-11-22, Phoenix, USA
2026 MLB Pitching Projections
SeasonIPERAWHIPK%BB%FIPWAR202566.04.231.2935.0%7.4%2.511.72026 Proj67.03.131.1329.9%7.4%3.061.4
Griffin Jax saw his HR/FB% more than double from his breakout 2024 season which tainted his final line with a 4.23 ERA. I don’t expect this inflated home run rate to hold as Jax has some of the nastiest stuff in MLB. He wields a starter’s repertoire to handle any kind of batter, and his sweeper is arguably the best pitch in baseball. He is just another example showing that you should never consider ERA when projecting future performance.
10) Devin Williams

Devin Williams
P, Age: 31, Throws: R, 6′ 2″/193 lbs
DOB: 1994-09-21, St. Louis, USA
2026 MLB Pitching Projections
SeasonIPERAWHIPK%BB%FIPWAR202562.04.791.1334.7%9.7%2.681.42026 Proj64.03.141.1930.5%10.5%3.241.1
Devin Williams had a season to forget with the Yankees as it seemed like every baserunner he allowed ended up scoring. His 55.2 LOB% was the lowest of any qualified reliever and was the driver in his putrid 4.79 ERA. Despite the ugly line, Williams posted an elite K% and FIP while showcasing his strong fastball and elite airbending changeup. Williams is a Top 10 reliever in MLB no matter what his 2025 ERA says.
11) Grant Taylor

Grant Taylor
P, Age: 23, Throws: R, 6′ 3″/230 lbs
DOB: 2002-05-20, Florence, USA
2026 MLB Pitching Projections
SeasonIPERAWHIPK%BB%FIPWAR202536.24.911.4234.4%9.6%1.421.72026 Proj79.03.321.2227.9%9.3%3.391.4
Grant Taylor was incredible in his rookie season. He posted a bonkers 1.42 FIP across 36.2 innings and showcased some of the nastiest stuff in baseball. His cut-ride fastball was a whiff machine, and his curveball was a wicked weapon against both RHH and LHH. You may not be familiar with Taylor now, but you will be after 2026.
12) Bryan Abreu

Bryan Abreu
P, Age: 28, Throws: R, 6′ 1″/230 lbs
DOB: 1997-04-22, Santo Domingo Centro, Dominican Republic
2026 MLB Pitching Projections
SeasonIPERAWHIPK%BB%FIPWAR202571.02.281.1535.5%10.5%2.392.22026 Proj68.03.241.1731.3%9.8%3.251.3
Bryan Abreu was exceptional in 2025 thanks to an incredible 35.5 K% fuelled by an unstoppable fastball-slider combo. He will take a backseat in the Astros bullpen with Josh Hader’s return from injury but is still expected to be one of the most valuable relief arms in MLB.
13) Garrett Whitlock

Garrett Whitlock
P, Age: 29, Throws: R, 6′ 5″/222 lbs
DOB: 1996-06-11, Snellville, USA
2026 MLB Pitching Projections
SeasonIPERAWHIPK%BB%FIPWAR202572.02.251.0831.1%8.2%2.182.22026 Proj70.03.461.1926.6%7.1%3.321.1
Garrett Whitlock returned from elbow surgery in style with an excellent performance during 2025 where he posted a 2.18 FIP across 72 innings thanks to stellar command. He relied upon his fastball to get ahead of batters and then utilised his secondaries to generate chases at an elite rate.
14) Abner Uribe

Abner Uribe
P, Age: 25, Throws: R, 6′ 3″/210 lbs
DOB: 2000-06-20, Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic
2026 MLB Pitching Projections
SeasonIPERAWHIPK%BB%FIPWAR202575.11.671.0430.2%9.1%2.751.72026 Proj72.03.151.2528.7%10.9%3.321.3
Abner Uribe is yet another flamethrower that can induce weak contact with a high 90s sinker and then readily put away batters with a slider. The Brewers righty was one of the best relievers in MLB last season and will look to repeat that success as an everyday closer in 2026.
15) David Bednar

David Bednar
P, Age: 31, Throws: R, 6′ 1″/250 lbs
DOB: 1994-10-10, Pittsburgh, USA
2026 MLB Pitching Projections
SeasonIPERAWHIPK%BB%FIPWAR202562.22.301.0434.3%7.6%2.182.02026 Proj65.03.301.1529.3%8.3%3.351.2
David Bednar quickly made an impact after being acquired by the Yankees at the deadline. He ended the 2025 season squarely in the closer role and posted an elite 26.7 K-BB% on the year with strong command. His plus-plus fastball gives him a sturdy base with his curveball and splitter carrying the whiff duties.
16) Jeremiah Estrada

Jeremiah Estrada
P, Age: 27, Throws: R, 6′ 1″/185 lbs
DOB: 1998-11-01, Indio, USA
2026 MLB Pitching Projections
SeasonIPERAWHIPK%BB%FIPWAR202573.03.451.1635.5%8.9%3.551.02026 Proj70.03.211.1631.9%9.9%3.301.2
Jeremiah Estrada has one of the highest ceilings for a reliever in MLB. His trifecta of nasty offerings helps buoy his excellent strikeout rate and his command is comfortably above average. Last season was not as bountiful as usual for Estrada due to an unusual spike in home runs, a trait which I expect to trend down in 2026.
17) Trevor Megill

Trevor Megill
P, Age: 32, Throws: R, 6′ 8″/249 lbs
DOB: 1993-12-05, Long Beach, USA
2026 MLB Pitching Projections
SeasonIPERAWHIPK%BB%FIPWAR202547.02.491.1331.3%8.9%2.501.62026 Proj66.03.411.1630.0%8.7%3.331.1
Trevor Megill has two 70-grade pitches with his digit his cut-fastball and ungodly knuckle curveball. With a pair of pitches like that Megill has had no problem being one of the most dominant relievers in MLB.
18) Louis Varland

Louis Varland
P, Age: 28, Throws: R, 6′ 1″/205 lbs
DOB: 1997-12-09, St. Paul, USA
2026 MLB Pitching Projections
SeasonIPERAWHIPK%BB%FIPWAR202572.22.971.2025.3%7.4%3.141.22026 Proj67.03.451.1824.7%6.4%3.480.7
The Louis Varland starter experiment seems to have come to close after he transitioned to the bullpen fulltime with resounding success. He can now hit triple digits with his fastball, and the added velocity pushed his knuckle curveball to plus-plus territory. His usage was unprecedented during the playoffs, and he showcased that he has the juice to pitch plenty of innings once again.
19) Aaron Ashby

Aaron Ashby
P, Age: 27, Throws: L, 6′ 0″/188 lbs
DOB: 1998-05-24, Kansas City, USA
2026 MLB Pitching Projections
SeasonIPERAWHIPK%BB%FIPWAR202566.22.161.1728.1%8.9%2.701.22026 Proj64.03.481.3424.5%10.6%3.670.5
Aaron Ashby was poised to be a mid-rotation arm from the Brewers after his ascent through their pipeline earlier this decade, but inconsistencies and injuries have limited him to a relief role. While this outcome may not look ideal, Ashby quickly transformed into an elite lefty out of the bullpen thanks to his ability to generate ground balls and miss barrels. Ashby is a perfect complement to the fireballers in the Brewers pen and is lined up for another strong season in 2026.
20) Tyler Rogers

Tyler Rogers
P, Age: 35, Throws: R, 6′ 3″/180 lbs
DOB: 1990-12-17, Denver, USA
2026 MLB Pitching Projections
SeasonIPERAWHIPK%BB%FIPWAR202577.11.980.9416.1%2.3%2.881.32026 Proj74.04.061.3216.1%5.4%4.050.3
Tyler Rogers throws the slowest fastball in MLB due to his unorthodox underarm delivery. He won’t generate many strikeouts, but he may be the best pitcher in baseball at inducing weak contact. His xERA has remained elite throughout his career and he should continue to be one of the most utilized relievers in the league.
21) Matt Brash

Matt Brash
P, Age: 27, Throws: R, 6′ 1″/173 lbs
DOB: 1998-05-12, Kingston, Canada
2026 MLB Pitching Projections
SeasonIPERAWHIPK%BB%FIPWAR202547.12.471.2529.1%9.0%3.050.82026 Proj63.03.041.1928.7%9.4%3.200.9
Matt Brash made his return from elbow surgery in 2025 and performed well despite a substantial drop in velocity. His slider looked magnificent, and he showcased a new kick changeup that effortlessly generated whiffs. His ability to manipulate movement is incredible and lines him up for an excellent season following a normal winter.
22) Daniel Palencia

Daniel Palencia
P, Age: 25, Throws: R, 5′ 11″/160 lbs
DOB: 2000-02-05, San Carlos, Venezuela
2026 MLB Pitching Projections
SeasonIPERAWHIPK%BB%FIPWAR202552.22.911.1428.4%7.4%3.081.02026 Proj67.03.621.2626.5%9.7%3.740.7
Daniel Palencia seamlessly transitioned into the Cubs closer role near the start of last season and did not look back. His 100 MPH fastball is all he really needed to produce an effective season. Palencia will be relied upon to eat up high-leverage innings for the Cubs in 2026, a role he should continue succeeding in.
23) Robert Suarez

Robert Suarez
P, Age: 34, Throws: R, 6′ 2″/210 lbs
DOB: 1991-03-01, Bolivar, Venezuela
2026 MLB Pitching Projections
SeasonIPERAWHIPK%BB%FIPWAR202569.22.970.9027.9%5.9%2.881.92026 Proj67.03.511.2026.3%7.6%3.481.0
Robert Suarez pushes the limits of how often you can throw a fastball. There will be outings where there are constant heaters, and most of the time it results in a successful appearance for Suarez. Now in Atlanta, I expect Suarez to sustain his steady production in a set up role after serving as the Padres closer.
24) Tanner Scott

Tanner Scott
P, Age: 31, Throws: L, 6′ 0″/235 lbs
DOB: 1994-07-22, Warren, USA
2026 MLB Pitching Projections
SeasonIPERAWHIPK%BB%FIPWAR202557.04.741.2625.2%7.6%4.700.02026 Proj63.03.431.2427.7%9.9%3.631.0
Tanner Scott’s first season in Los Angeles was one to forget after he saw his strikeout rate dip and home runs spike. There was not much positive to gain from his campaign which was cut short due to a lower body injury; however, his pitch metrics were still strong. Projections view him as a prime bounce back candidate in 2026, and I am inclined to agree. His fastball is simply too good to not carry him back to his prior success.
25) Will Vest

Will Vest
P, Age: 30, Throws: R, 6′ 0″/180 lbs
DOB: 1995-06-06, Houston, USA
2026 MLB Pitching Projections
SeasonIPERAWHIPK%BB%FIPWAR202568.23.011.2126.4%7.7%2.711.82026 Proj68.03.271.2124.5%7.5%3.301.1
Will Vest is one of the most unheralded relievers in baseball. He has posted a 2.71 FIP since the start of the 2023 season and transitioned smoothly into the closer role for Detroit last year. His profile is highlighted by a high-riding fastball and trio of secondaries that are effective at missing barrels and inducing weak contact. Vest will once again be relied upon heavily by the Tigers in a high-leverage role.
26) Brad Keller

Brad Keller
P, Age: 30, Throws: R, 6′ 5″/255 lbs
DOB: 1995-07-27, Snellville, USA
2026 MLB Pitching Projections
SeasonIPERAWHIPK%BB%FIPWAR202569.22.070.9627.2%8.0%2.931.32026 Proj68.03.981.3520.9%8.7%4.100.4
The Cubs struck gold last season with Brad Keller as his first full year as a reliever went beautifully. He posted a 2.07 ERA backed by an elite 2.93 FIP and 2.82 xERA after a massive uptick in velocity and revamped sweeper sparked a late-career breakout for the veteran righty which garnered him a multi-year deal with the Phillies.
27) Jeff Hoffman

Jeff Hoffman
P, Age: 33, Throws: R, 6′ 5″/235 lbs
DOB: 1993-01-08, Latham, USA
2026 MLB Pitching Projections
SeasonIPERAWHIPK%BB%FIPWAR202568.04.371.1929.3%9.4%4.90-0.42026 Proj63.03.471.1829.0%8.6%3.491.1
Jeff Hoffman could not stop giving up home runs in 2025 as he did not look like the dominant closer that he was paid to be. On the bright side, Hoffman’s stuff remained elite, and he looked excellent in the playoffs. I fully expect Hoffman to bounce back in 2026.
28) Ryan Helsley

Ryan Helsley
P, Age: 31, Throws: R, 6′ 2″/235 lbs
DOB: 1994-07-18, Tahlequah, USA
2026 MLB Pitching Projections
SeasonIPERAWHIPK%BB%FIPWAR202556.04.501.5425.0%9.9%4.140.22026 Proj64.03.471.2228.3%9.2%3.491.0
Mets fans are likely shuddering in fear at the sight of Ryan Helsley on this list. He was an abomination following the trade that sent him to New York as his fastball was utterly destroyed. These poor results, however, did not deter the Orioles from inking a hefty deal for the flame throwing reliever. Helsley’s slider is still one of the best pitches in baseball and although his fastball shape has been on a steady decline, he still has the juice to dial it up to triple digits consistently.
29) Pete Fairbanks

Pete Fairbanks
P, Age: 32, Throws: R, 6′ 6″/235 lbs
DOB: 1993-12-16, Milwaukee, USA
2026 MLB Pitching Projections
SeasonIPERAWHIPK%BB%FIPWAR202560.12.831.0424.2%7.4%3.631.02026 Proj62.03.561.2325.3%8.5%3.581.0
Pete Fairbanks will assume closer duties in Miami after inking a 1-year deal this winter. He has dealt with Raynaud’s syndrome throughout his career and more recently a nerve issue has yielded worrisome drop in velocity. His stuff is still solid, but it pales in comparison to his dominant days in Tampa.
30) Raisel Iglesias

Raisel Iglesias
P, Age: 36, Throws: R, 6′ 2″/190 lbs
DOB: 1990-01-04, Isla de la Juventud, Cuba
2026 MLB Pitching Projections
SeasonIPERAWHIPK%BB%FIPWAR202567.13.211.0027.4%6.0%3.311.02026 Proj66.03.701.2025.8%7.0%3.620.8
Raisel Iglesias is back for another year as Atlanta’s closer, but this time it feels less optimistic. Iglesias saw his damage allowed spike in 2025 paired with a significant decline in GB% and a drop in fastball velocity. His stuff did not have the same oomph as his prior seasons, which makes me cautious about his efficacy for 2026.
31) Justin Slaten

Justin Slaten
P, Age: 28, Throws: R, 6′ 4″/222 lbs
DOB: 1997-09-15, Longview, USA
2026 MLB Pitching Projections
SeasonIPERAWHIPK%BB%FIPWAR202534.04.241.0918.2%7.3%3.690.42026 Proj61.03.961.2922.8%7.8%3.870.4
I went into 2024 saying Justin Slaten was the best reliever in the Red Sox bullpen and he performed as such in his rookie season. I said the same thing entering 2025, but a myriad of injuries and ultimately poor performance yielded a disappointing season. Now entering 2026, I want to say the same thing yet again, but I will not tempt fate. Slaten has overwhelming stuff that stifles batters and suppresses hard contact. He forms an elite trio at the end of the Red Sox bullpen and has the talent to be one of the best relievers in MLB.
32) Gabe Speier

Gabe Speier
P, Age: 30, Throws: L, 5′ 11″/200 lbs
DOB: 1995-04-12, Santa Barbara, USA
2026 MLB Pitching Projections
SeasonIPERAWHIPK%BB%FIPWAR202562.02.610.8733.7%4.5%2.311.72026 Proj58.03.211.1327.9%7.5%3.320.4
Gabe Speier played a pivotal part in the Mariners’ run to the ALCS as one of the most dominant southpaw relievers in MLB. His fastball paired well with his low 3/4 slot to create a deceptive weapon against RHH while his sinker was an efficient soft-contact generator against LHH. He rounds out his arsenal with a tight two-plane slider that was elite at inducing whiffs. The biggest knock against Speier is the disparity between his home and road results, which makes him a tough arm to zero in on.
33) Jose A. Ferrer

Jose A. Ferrer
P, Age: 25, Throws: L, 6′ 1″/233 lbs
DOB: 2000-03-03, Maimon, Dominican Republic
2026 MLB Pitching Projections
SeasonIPERAWHIPK%BB%FIPWAR202576.14.481.2721.9%4.9%3.031.42026 Proj70.03.101.2023.3%7.3%3.360.7
Jose A. Ferrer being traded for Harry Ford was one of the more surprising moves of the offseason yet perfectly encapsulates the value a cost-controlled hard-throwing lefty reliever provides to a team. Ferrer is proficient at generating ground balls with his sinker heavy approach and has a pair of secondaries to maintain a solid strikeout rate. I expect Ferrer to slot into a high-leverage role in Seattle and excel.
34) Matt Strahm

Matt Strahm
P, Age: 34, Throws: L, 6′ 2″/190 lbs
DOB: 1991-11-12, West Fargo, USA
2026 MLB Pitching Projections
SeasonIPERAWHIPK%BB%FIPWAR202562.12.741.0727.3%7.8%2.991.52026 Proj66.03.661.1826.2%7.5%3.660.9
The significant drop in velocity last season did not majorly impact Strahm’s efficacy, but it does make me bearish on him entering 2026. His stuff was down across the board and the walks crept up.
35) Graham Ashcraft

Graham Ashcraft

Graham Ashcraft was one of the best relievers at suppressing damage last season. He readily induced awkward swings with his blistering cutter and hard slider to generate ground balls. The final line did not look too pretty, but his 2.72 FIP tells a different story.
36) Jared Koenig

It really does seem like the Brewers grow southpaw relievers on trees. Koenig utilizes a heavy sinker approach with a low 90s cutter and sweeper two-plane curveball to induce weak contact. The strikeout ceiling isn’t typically high with pitchers of this archetype, but he should be a valuable piece in the Brewers bullpen.
37) Orion Kerkering

Orion Kerkering had his season end traumatically after a severe case of the yips resulted in a devastating playoff loss for the Phillies. When he is on, Kerkering is one of the best relievers in MLB. His sweeper is in the running for the nastiest pitch in baseball and his fastballs can readily generate whiffs. I hope he can return strong in 2026.
38) Steven Okert

Steven Okert simplified his arsenal in 2025 and produced the best results of his career with a 2.76 FIP across 71.2 innings. His rising two-plane slider was one of the most valuable pitches in MLB and readily generated whiffs. His extreme fly ball approach makes him a more volatile arm given his home park; however, he should be an integral part of the Astros bullpen in 2026.
39) Ryan Walker

Ryan Walker saw his strikeouts dissipate last season despite no meaningful changes in his pitch shapes. His dip in production stemmed from a decline in command and a 10% drop in his slider Whiff%. Projections expect his strikeout rate to hover closer to his 2025 results, which I am inclined to agree with given his heavy sinker usage.
40) Clayton Beeter

Clayton Beeter was my Yankees breakout pick heading into 2025, but it wasn’t until he was traded to the Nationals that his talent gleamed through. He wields a mid 90s cut-ride fastball and a tight two-plane slider – two pitches that comfortably grade out as plus on pitch models. He projects to be a high strikeout arm with command issues, and even with his limited track record I like him enough to slot him at the end of this ranking.
Honourable MentionsMatt Svanson

Matt Svanson returned great results in his rookie season with a sub-2 ERA and a strong 2.72 FIP to back it up. Everything under the hood looked strong with a 29.1 K% and good contact suppression, but he lacks a true put away pitch. I am wary that he can sustain his strikeout success with subpar whiff rates which makes me bearish on Svanson heading into 2026.
Dennis Santana

Dennis Santana was one of the most valuable relievers during 2024 thanks to his fantastic ability to generate chases. His slider’s tight movement allowed Santana to confidently throw the pitch in all counts and land strikes on the edges of the zone. I don’t expect a strong strikeout rate, but Santana should remain productive by limiting free passes.
Will Klein

Will Klein put on a clinic during the World Series in extra innings to secure the Game 3 win. That outing was one of the most incredible performances I witnessed during 2025 and made me a massive fan of Klein. His stuff has always been pristine with command being his Achilles heel. He is expected to latch onto a full-time role in the Dodgers bullpen during 2026 and he has the talent to break out.
Alex Vesia

Alex Vesia is a perfect example to demonstrate that velocity is only a piece of the puzzle, rather than the whole. The soft-tossing lefty imparts an incredible amount of back-spin on his fastball which causes the pitch to have over 20″ of induced vertical break with a very flat approach. It is easily a plus-plus offering and makes Vesia an integral part of the Dodgers pen.
Robert Garcia

Robert Garcia was a crafty acquisition by the Rangers last winter as they landed the southpaw for Nathaniel Lowe. Garcia’s results were not as strong in 2025, but his trio of pitches and their pitch traits stay steady. If his changeup efficacy can bounce back, the Rangers bullpen would see a massive boost.
Ben Casparius

Ben Casparius bounced around in different roles during the 2025 season, including a partially successful stint as a starter. Overall, the results were solid with a 3.57 FIP and I believe he can take another step next season. Casparius is keen on improving and the development of his arsenal encapsulates that. He is expected to latch onto a full-time role in the Dodgers bullpen, and he has the stuff to break out in 2026.
Jordan Leasure

I fondly recall Jordan Leasure grading out as the best pitcher in AAA in my first iteration of tjStuff+. I was very excited for his first full season in 2025, and although there were growing pains, he looked impressive. His fastball shape is stellar, and his slider generated a ton of whiffs. He tested out a splitter in the first half before abandoning it after the All-Star break. I really like the fastball-slider combo but have an inkling that he could shatter expectations if he finds more reliability with his off-speed offering.
Luinder Avila

Luinder Avila joined the Royals in the middle of August to fortify their bullpen. What happened next was unexpected as Avila posted an excellent 2.14 FIP across 14.0 inning while flashing a pair of damage supressing fastballs and a bonkers sweeping curveball. I suspect Avila’s time as a starter during 2026 will be limited due to the Royals deep rotation and I hope that he can carve out a role in the bullpen because his stuff totally plays.
Elvis Alvarado

Elvis Alvarado is a pure stuff play heading into 2026. His high 90s fastball was an excellent swing and miss pitch last season which he pairs with cutter-like slider. His lack of command has held him back throughout his pro career, so I don’t expect his walks to disappear.
Kade Strowd

Kade Strowd never really struck me as a potential high leverage arm, but one look at his pitch plot completely changed my mind. His cutter was an elite weapon last season thanks to his low 90s velocity and blend of ride and cutting action. He also has a very strong cut-ride fastball which sawed-off bats and induced very weak contract. It doesn’t stop there as Strowd has a massive two-plane curveball and a hard sweeper to tackle LHH and RHH, respectively. The stuff is undoubtedly fantastic, and I hope that his command can hold up so Strowd can take full advantage of it next season.

Brandan Bidois may win the award for the nastiest pitcher you have never heard of. The Pirates righty utilizes an extremely high release to generate a ton of ride on his cut-fastball which pairs beautifully off his secondaries to create disturbing angles for batters.
Bradgley Rodriguez

Bradgley Rodriguez is looking to be yet another dynamic arm from a long line of elite Padres relievers. He has the velocity to stick in a high-leverage role and the arsenal depth to tackle both RHH and LHH. His changeup is fantastic and will give batters fits next season.
Edwin Uceta

Edwin Uceta

Edwin Uceta did not like the move to George M. Steinbrenner Field in 2025. The park was not all to blame for his struggles though. His high fly ball approach burned Uceta as he allowed more detrimental quality of contact which was further compounded by an increased walk rate. I still like Uceta entering 2026 thanks to his heavy swing-and-miss arsenal, but he needs to supress damage at a higher rate.
