BOWIE — A five-run fourth inning sparked Allegany to a 6-2 victory over St. Michaels for the Class 1A state baseball championship Saturday afternoon at Prince George’s Stadium.

After Brock Grow’s RBI safety squeeze gave St. Michaels a 1-0 lead after the top of the fourth, the Campers responded with five runs off of only two hits in the bottom of the inning.

A two-run single by freshman Liam Buck put the Campers ahead to stay at 3-1 and Cole Ricker also had an RBI in the inning, aided by a walk and three St. Michaels’ errors.

Starter Myles Bascelli picked up the win and Kane Williams got the save.

The Campers finish 18-4 and have won 15 of their last 16 games.

More details about the game will appear later on Times-News.com/sports and in Monday’s edition of the Times-News from reporters Alex Rychwalski and Jordan Kendall.
