We get to know new Twins 1B/3B/OF Eric Wagaman.

The Twins acquired him on Jan. 2 in a trade with Miami. He played in 140 games for the Marlins last year, hitting .250 with 28 doubles, 3 triples, 9 home runs, 53 RBI, 56 runs scored, and 32 walks.

Our Darren ‘Doogie’ Wolfson caught up with Wagaman, via Zoom. Wagaman makes his offseason home in the Dallas, TX area.

The 28-year-old Wagaman started 94 games at first base and 13 games in left field in 2025, after appearing in 18 games with the Los Angeles Angels in his MLB debut in 2024.

Drafted in the 13th round in 2017 by the New York Yankees, Wagaman was designated for assignment by the Marlins. He’ll provide the Twins more potential depth at first base along with Kody Clemens behind veteran Josh Bell, who signed a one-year, $7 million contract last month.

Wagaman noted that he does have three options remaining. So, it’s possible that he’ll play some in 2026 with the AAA-St. Paul Saints. But his goal is to have a great spring training and be part of the Opening Day roster.

He has MLB experience playing 1B, LF, RF, and 3B and led Miami with a .328 batting average (20-for-61) during the month of September.
