With 68 days left until Opening Day, the Reds are already hitting a home run in their return to the Cincinnati Convention Center.Even before pitchers and catchers report for spring training, the two days of Redsfest brought the excitement of Cincinnati Reds baseball home to the city’s newly-renovated convention center in the heart of Reds Country.All-Star pitcher Hunter Greene was just one of the players to make an appearance at the annual celebration and pep rally.”We love being able to interact with all of you,” Greene said. “That’s why this event is so special. I take pride in the relationship we have and being able to come to Redsfest allows us to do that even more so than when we are in the season.” Fans of all ages like Rhett Boothsby and son Landon shared their joy of this team from generation to generation. “It is so much fun to be a Reds fan and the event they put on here at Redsfest to be able to share it with my son, and carry that love of the game and the fandom I had,” said Boothsby. “To see that excitement on his face is awesome.”Lining up for several city blocks, fans braved the cold to share their love for Major League Baseball’s oldest professional franchise, christening the renovated Cincinnati Convention Center for its first major event.Reds executive Karen Forgus marveled at the upgrades to the new center.“We are the first event in the Convention center here, and it didn’t feel crowded, because of the expansion of the second and third floor,” said Forgus. “For Friday night, we had the third largest attendance in Reds history last night.” Even in the grand concourses and wide windows of the renewed Cincinnati Convention Center, Redsfest still managed to bring the team up close and personal with fans.”Its a personal event for us as an organization, and this is the perfect home,” Forgus said.
