“Is there value in holding Brendan Donovan? Yeah,” Gibson said on the Cardinal Territory podcast. “He’s an All-Star utility player, utility Gold Glove. He’s a stud. Of course there’s value and I think there’s value to building your team around him. It’s gonna be really interesting as we see what Major League Baseball and what these teams do as they shift. Clearly there’s teams making a little bit of a shift from swing-and-miss, a little bit of a shift from homer-heavy, swing-and-miss heavy, to some contact. And I just think (Donovan) is just a guy that does that really well, (Alec Burleson) is a guy that does that really well. … I’ve never been on board with trading Brendan Donovan. And I say ‘never’ until maybe a really good trade package comes up. But, man, I just think he’s a guy that you figure out how to keep here.”
