LOS ANGELES, Calif. — The Los Angeles Dodgers are reportedly one of several teams exploring a trade for Brewers ace Freddy Peralta, according to MLB insider Jon Heyman.

With Peralta approaching free agency after the 2026 season, his combination of high-end production and an affordable $8 million salary has sparked interest across the league. The Dodgers’ pursuit comes on top of a rotation already packed with talent, including Shohei Ohtani, Blake Snell, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Tyler Glasnow, and rising star Roki Sasaki.

The Dodgers’ offseason has been aggressive, signaling a clear push to maximize their window of contention. They recently signed outfielder Kyle Tucker to a four-year, $240 million deal and added closer Edwin Díaz, bolstering both their offense and bullpen.

On top of that, Los Angeles has been linked to trade rumors involving Detroit Tigers ace Tarik Skubal, indicating their willingness to continually fortify their starting rotation.

Freddy Peralta’s appeal lies in his consistent ability to miss bats and provide frontline innings at a fraction of the cost of other top starters. His $8 million salary makes him an accessible addition for almost any team, while a potential extension remains an attractive possibility for a deep-pocketed club like the Dodgers.

Milwaukee, meanwhile, continues to field offers but faces the typical small-market dilemma: keeping Peralta is feasible for 2026, but a long-term deal may be difficult to sustain.

The Dodgers’ pursuit of Peralta would provide additional flexibility and insurance for a rotation already loaded with high-end arms. With Ohtani anchoring the staff and a mix of proven MLB talent and emerging international prospects, adding Peralta, or even a player like Skubal, gives Los Angeles depth for both the regular season and a long playoff run.

For Milwaukee, the situation is straightforward: the Brewers can retain Peralta through 2026, but trade talks allow them to potentially maximize return for one of their best assets. For the Dodgers, Peralta represents an opportunity to further strengthen a rotation that already ranks among the most formidable in baseball, putting them in a prime position for another deep postseason push.
