The Atlanta Braves have been active this offseason. After the terrible news of Ha-Seong Kim having hand surgery to repair a torn tendon in his right middle finger, Atlanta might be in the market for a low-cost infielder to help with depth. It appears, as of now, that Mauricio Dubon will likely open up as the team’s Opening Day shortstop.
However, past Dubon, the Braves’ shortstop options run thin, and become even more thin if a player like Austin Riley or Ozzie Albies has to miss time with injury as well. The Braves have been injury-prone the last two seasons, so it’s understandable why Braves reporters and writers aren’t fully sold on this current roster. Kim signed a one-year, $20 million deal to remain with the Braves after being claimed off waivers back in August, and the South Korean product fell on ice while in Korea, which led to the hand injury.
Here are four free agent infielders the Braves should target as Ha-Seong Kim’s replacement, or as other infield options:

Luis Urias
Luis Urias is a 29-year-old utilityman who played in 2025 with the Athletics. Over 96 games a season ago, he hit eight home runs and struck out just 45 times in 287 at-bats. The Braves had a hard time finding any power contributions from shortstops in 2025, and that is presumably going to be an issue again if Dubon is the everyday option.
According to Spotrac, Luis Urias’ market value is two years, $6.8 million, which could be right in the Braves’ price range.
Luis Rengifo
Luis Rengifo might be a little pricier than Urias, but he provides a little more power upside than both Luis Urias and Mauricio Dubon. In 2025, he hit nine home runs and had 28 extra-base hits over 147 games with the Los Angeles Angels. He’s had two seasons of 15+ home runs (2022, 2023).
His Spotrac’s market value is: two-years, $20 million.
He is a third baseman, but has played shortstop in his career, and likely got moved over to third base because of the rise of Zach Neto.

Jon Berti
The Braves are pretty familiar with Jon Berti, as he spent five seasons with the Miami Marlins and was a mainstay in their lineup. He doesn’t provide much power output, which has seen his playing time reduce while with the Yankees and Cubs over the last two seasons. However, he could serve as Dubon/Albies, or Riley’s backup, in case any of them need a day off, and Berti also serves as a quality pinch runner. Jon Berti is the least valuable player of this group and might have to earn a roster spot after receiving a minor league contract.
Isiah Kiner-Falefa
Considering the names on this group mainly being third basemen, Isiah Kiner-Falefa had the highest bWAR (2.8) of this group in 2025 by a wide margin, but again, it’s because he’s a primary shortstop. However, either way, Isiah Kiner-Falefa would be a solid addition for the Braves.
He hit .264 with 23 XBH while with the Pirates in 2025, and then finished out the season with the AL champion Toronto Blue Jays. His market value projects him to earn a one-year, $5.3 million deal.
