The Chicago White Sox have been looking to improve throughout the offseason, and they look like they are doing just that. With some intriguing signings, they could really show some improvement in 2026. Signing some under-the-radar players could bode well for the franchise and on Sunday, it appears they were able to do just that. Let’s take a closer look at who they were able to sign and what it means for the White Sox going forward.
The Chicago White Sox signed Ryan Borucki to a minor league deal

The White Sox made an intriguing move for their overall roster as they signed left-handed pitcher Ryan Borucki to a minor league deal on Sunday. This contract also includes an invitation to the big league’s Spring Training camp. Borucki has a lot of experience in the majors, pitching eight seasons in MLB throughout his career. He signed a minor league contract with the Pittsburgh Pirates last season before being released in August. He would sign with the Toronto Blue Jays later on before he was designated for assignment.
Borucki finished the season with 39 appearances between the two teams and was 1-3 with a 4.63 ERA and a 1.286 WHIP over 35.0 innings. His 22% strikeout rate and 11% walk rate shows there is signs for improvement in his basic stats, but he was limited as he missed six weeks due to a back injury. Chicago has Brandon Eisert and Tyler Gilbert as southpaw options out of the bullpen, but neither really impressed in 2025. This leaves the door open for Borucki to make the 26-man roster out of Spring Training with a strong showing.
This is also a bit of a homecoming as he grew up just north of Chicago in Mundelein, Illinois. Borucki provides some experience to a young pitching staff, both in the starting rotation and the bullpen, so this signing could be as much for the veteran leadership as it is for on-field production.
