EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) – It most certainly doesn’t feel like it outside, but baseball season is starting to creep up, on us. The college season actually starts in about a month, while Major League Baseball spring training, also starts next month.
Pitchers and catchers usually report the second week of February, but before that, several teams do caravan tours, and that includes the Cardinals.
They always stop in Evansville, and this year, they brought some of their top prospects: catcher Jimmy Crooks, outfielder Joshua Baez, outfielder Nathan Church, and pitcher Andre Granillo, three of whom, made their major league debuts, last summer.
The Cardinals also brought along play-by-play announcer Polo Ascencio, who does their exclusive Spanish radio broadcasts, on the Cardinals’ website and app. He emphasized how Saint Louis is making a commitment, to going young.
Cardinals pitchers and catchers report to Spring Training, on February 12.
