Junior right-handed relief pitcher Chase Meyer of the West Virginia University baseball team has been named a First-Team Preseason All-American by Over-Slot Baseball, per a release Tuesday.

The team was assembled based on who is considered the first player drafted at their position in 2026. Meyer was listed as a relief pitcher along with Cole Carlon of Arizona State University.

In his sophomore year in 2025, Meyer had a formidable season on the mound, going 9-2 in 22 appearances, three of which were starts and earned his first career save. Through 48 innings, Meyer posted a 3.94 ERA with 63 strikeouts. For his career, he has 67.1 innings pitched with 91 strikeouts.

Meyer is the 12th Mountaineer to be named a preseason All-American. It is the third straight season and fifth time in the last six years that at least one Mountaineer has been named a preseason All-American by at least one publication.

WVU Baseball begins its 2026 campaign on Feb. 13 at Georgia Southern University. The Mountaineers return home on Feb. 24 for the first time at Wagener Field at Kendrick Family Ballpark to face Canisius University.Â
