Four Cubs players have been named to MLB’s Top 100 Right Now. Let’s dive into what makes them some of MLB’s best.
Last week MLB Network debuted their annual “MLB Top 100 Players Right Now” program, and to no Chicago Cubs fans’ surprise, a few Cubs made the cut.
Coming off a season in which the Cubs fell just one game short of reaching the National League Championship Series, it’s easy to see why four Cubs position players made this year’s cut on MLB Network.
The one thing that was surprising, however, was that Nico Hoerner was not named on this year’s list.
With high hopes for the Cubs this season, let’s hope more are added to this list next season, but for now let’s see who made this year’s cut.

Acquired by the Cubs earlier this month in a blockbuster deal, Alex Bregman has been one of the most consistent players in baseball throughout his career. Averaging 28 homers, 96 RBI, 39 doubles, and an .846 OPS per 162 games, it’s no surprise the three-time All-Star is the Cubs highest ranked player on MLB’s Top 100 Right Now.
Although Bregman played just 114 games due to injuries last season, he still put up impressive numbers when he did play. In 495 plate appearances he posted a .273/.360/.462 slash line with 18 home runs, 28 doubles, 62 RBI, and an .821 OPS.
According to FanGraphs, Bregman is projected to have another solid season. The former Silver Slugger is predicted to hit 25 home runs with a .260/.345/.438 slash line and a 4.0 WAR.
40. Pete Crow-Armstrong

Pete Crow-Armstrong was easily the Cubs’ biggest breakout star of 2025 and rightfully so. In 157 games, he posted a .247/.287/.481 slash line with 31 home runs, 37 doubles, 35 stolen bases, 91 runs, and a .768 OPS. His efforts earned himself his first All-Star appearance, a Gold Glove Award, and a top ten NL MVP finish.
Although his numbers suffered a little in the second half of the season, a lot of critics could say that Crow-Armstrong’s success was largely due to Kyle Tucker’s presence in the lineup. However, with Bregman added to this upcoming year’s lineup, the young centerfielder can easily have similar success to that of last season.
According to FanGraphs, Crow-Armstrong is projected to have a .252/.301/.452 slash line with 26 home runs and a 4.5 WAR. Although these numbers are nice, with Crow-Armstrong’s ability, he could easily surpass those numbers in 2026 and make his current spot on MLB’s Top 100 Right Now look like a joke.
67. Michael Busch

Michael Busch was another breakout performer for the Cubs in 2025. With his performance, he easily planted himself into the conversation of being one of the top first basemen in the major leagues.
In 155 games in 2025, Busch posted a .261 batting average with 34 home runs, 25 doubles, 5 triples, 90 RBI, and an .866 OPS. He also placed in the top 90th percentile in Batting Run Value, xwOBA, xSLG, Average Exit Velocity, Barrel Percentage, and LA Sweet-Spot Percentage. His efforts earned himself a top 20 NL MVP finish.
FanGraphs has Busch projected at 27 home runs and a .248/.334/.467 slash line for the 2026 season. However, if the lefty is given more opportunities to play against left-handed pitching, don’t be surprised to see him easily surpass those numbers.
77. Seiya Suzuki

2025 was Seiya Suzuki’s best season since joining the Cubs in 2022. In 651 plate appearances he smacked 32 homer runs with 31 doubles, 103 RBI, 71 walks, and an .804 OPS.
Like Crow-Armstrong, a lot of fans are quick to use the “Tucker’s Presence in the Lineup” excuse when talking about Suzuki. And although Tucker’s presence may have allowed Suzuki to see more hittable pitches last season, he arguably had his greatest season in 2025 when it came to working counts and drawing walks. With Bregman added to the Cubs’ lineup now, we may see more of the same from the Japanese native.
According to FanGraphs, Suzuki is slated to have another solid season. Projected at 26 home runs and a .454 SLG, do not be surprised to see those power numbers hover more around 30+ home runs with another run producing season.
