The Chicago White Sox have traded center fielder Luis Robert Jr. to the New York Mets in exchange for two prospects.

According to reports from ESPN’s Jeff Passan, the Chicago White Sox have traded outfielder Luis Robert Jr. to the New York Mets in exchange for two prospects.

In return, the White Sox will receive infielder Luisangel Acuna and RHP Truman Pauley.

Acuna, the little brother of Atlanta Braves outfielder Ronald Acuna, slashed .234/.293/.274 with 0 home runs and 8 RBIs in 193 plate appearances with the Mets in his second season at the Major League level in 2025. A brief 14-game stint in 2024 went much better with Acuna hitting three home runs in just 39 plate appearances. Versatile in the field, he can play up the middle in the infield and has spent some time in center field as well.

Truman Pauley was the Mets’ 12th-round selection in the 2025 MLB Draft. In 70.1 innings pitched at the collegiate level in 2025, he posted a 4.61 ERA with 91 strikeouts.

Moving on from Robert Jr. marks the end of an era in Chicago. The longtime White Sox centerfielder was often marred by injuries, but boasted All-Star potential that remains largely unmatched on Chicago’s current roster. According to Bob Nightengale, the Mets will take on the entirety of Luis Robert Jr.’s $20 million contract.
