Proposed Rays Stadium Plan Could Transform HCC Campus | NewsRadio WFLA

Tampa, FL – A new proposal could significantly reshape a major section of Tampa if early discussions between the Tampa Bay Rays and Hillsborough College move forward.

The concept centers on redeveloping the college’s Dale Mabry campus into a mixed-use district anchored by a new baseball stadium, though no final agreement has been approved.

This week, the Hillsborough College Board of Trustees voted to move forward with a nonbinding memorandum of understanding that allows both sides to begin formal negotiations.

The agreement does not authorize construction or financing and can be canceled at any time.

It simply opens the door for detailed planning and feasibility studies.

Under the preliminary framework, most of the roughly 110-plus acre campus could be redeveloped.

The plan envisions a new fixed-roof stadium for the Rays along with hotels, residential units, retail, restaurants and entertainment space.

The college would also receive a new or rebuilt campus facility on part of the property while leasing the remaining land to the team under a long-term arrangement.

The Rays are seeking a new home as their current stadium situation remains uncertain, with future seasons and long-term plans still unresolved.

The Dale Mabry site is seen as attractive due to its proximity to major highways and other sports venues in the area.

State and local officials have indicated that infrastructure support could be discussed, though no public funding commitments have been made.

Many details including costs, timelines, and the impact on students and staff still need to be worked out.

Any final deal would require multiple additional approvals and public review before moving forward.

All flights scheduled in the days leading up to next Tuesday will follow the previous first-serve seating model in which passengers are assigned their letter and number position after checking in for their flight, which is largely determined by how quickly passengers check in once the portal opens, usually around 24 hours before scheduled takeoff.\u003c/p>\n\n\u003cp>Southwest will also introduce new seat options and fare bundles to coincide with the changed seating policy, which includes the option of a standard seat near the back of the cabin, a preferred seat near the front of the cabin or a seat with around three to five inches of additional legroom space. Boarding groups will be designated into four fare bundles including Choice Extra, which is the most expensive and will be included in boarding groups 1 and 2, as well as Choice Preferred, Choice and "easy open" pull tab Genova Yellowfin Tuna included in a February 2025 voluntary recall. The initial recall was announced after the company was notified by its supplier that the "easy open" pull tab can lid had a manufacturing defect, which potentially compromised the integrity of the product seal, resulting in leaks or clostridium botulinum.\u003c/p>\n\n\u003cp>The latest recall was initiated after Tri-Union Seafoods discovered that the quarantined cases from the February 2025 recall were shipped to Meijer stores in Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio and Wisconsin; Giant Foods stores in Maryland and Virginia; and Safeway, Albertsons, Vons and Pavilions stores in California. The recalled items include Genova Yellowfin Tuna in Olive Oil 5.0 oz 4 Pack with a UPC number of 4800073265 and best if used by dates of January 21, 2028, and January 24, 2028, as well as Genova Yellowfin Tuna in in Extra Virgin Olive Oil with Sea Salt 5.0 oz with a UPC number of 4800013275 and a January 17, 2028, best if used by date.\u003c/p>\n\n\u003cp>Consumers are warned not to eat the product if it looks or smells spoiled and should throw away the recalled item or return it to the place of purchase for a full refund.
