After being named D1Baseball’s No. 1 team entering the preseason for the first time in program history, the UCLA Bruins had three players named to D1Baseball’s preseason All-American teams. All three of the All-American selections are UCLA infielders, which will be one of the best infields in the nation.
It’s no surprise that shortstop Roch Cholowsky was named to the preseason First Team All-American. Cholowsky was named a D1Baseball’s First Team All-American following his terrific 2025 season, where the Bruins shortstop won the Big Ten Player of the Year and the conference’s Defensive Player of the Year.
It wouldn’t be a surprise to see Cholowsky be the first named called in this summer’s MLB Draft, with the UCLA shortstop being projected to go to the Chicago White Sox since the White Sox won the draft lottery back in December.
Cholowsky hit .353 with 23 home runs, 74 RBI in 66 games, helping UCLA reach the College World Series. First baseman Mulivai Levu and third baseman Roman Martin were each named to D1Baseball’s preseason Third Team All-American. Martin and Levu aren’t stars the same way Cholowsky is, but both figure to be premiere bats in the middle of the Bruin lineup.
Last year, Levu batted .320 with 12 home runs, 15 doubles and 85 RBI. Martin added a .316 average with nine home runs, 61 RBI and an on base percentage of .450. UCLA head coach John Savage has formed one of the top rosters in college baseball and now will look to deliver the program their second-ever College World Series championship.
