KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – One of the former stars of the Kansas City Royals has received his call to the Baseball Hall of Fame.
Former Kansas City Royals outfielder Carlos Beltran was selected to be an inductee in the National Baseball Hall of Fame’s Class of 2026.
Beltran is joined by former New York Yankees and Atlanta Braves center fielder Andruw Jones in a two-person Hall of Fame class.
The Puerto Rico native’s induction comes just under a decade after he retired from Major League Baseball in 2017.
Beltran made his MLB debut on Sept. 14, 1998, with the Kansas City Royals and spent parts of six seasons with the Royals before going elsewhere. In 1999, during his first full season with Kansas City, Beltran was named the American League Rookie of the Year.\
The nine-time All-Star, three-time Gold Glover and two-time Silver Slugger award winner finished his career with 2,725 hits, 435 home runs and 1587 RBI.
Along with the Royals, he played for the Houston Astros, New York Mets, San Francisco Giants, St. Louis Cardinals, New York Yankees and Texas Rangers before calling it a career in 2017 after winning a World Series with the Astros.
Beltran and Jones will be inducted into Cooperstown on Sunday, July 26.
