We highlight Texas A&M- Victoria baseball gears for preseason ranked at #2
VICTORIA, Texas- Texas A&M University–Victoria baseball has been picked to finish second in the Red River Athletic Conference Preseason Poll, announced this week.
The Jaguars are coming off a historic 2025 campaign, finishing 38–17 overall to set a program record for single-season wins. The season also marked the team’s second NAIA Tournament appearance in the last three years.
TAMUV returns a strong pitching staff led by All-RRAC selection Jonathan Jones. Jones posted a 4.20 ERA while logging 94.1 innings last season, serving as a key anchor for the Jaguars’ rotation. Junior Jacob Baker also returns after tying for second in the conference in saves, providing stability at the back end of the bullpen.
Offensively, the Jaguars welcome back Jackson Purcell, who hit .300 last season with three home runs, adding experience and consistency to the lineup.
With a veteran core and high expectations, the Jaguars open the 2026 season tomorrow afternoon with a noon doubleheader, followed by a single game at 11 a.m., as they host Texas Wesleyan.
