The Chicago White Sox have accomplished everything they needed to do this offseason, with the biggest hurdle being trading centerfielder Luis Robert Jr.

With $20 million now off the roster, general manager Chris Getz now has the “financial flexibility” to add to their young core, according to CHSN’s Chuck Garfien, which could come in the form of two or three more players. According to Garfien, Getz says the White Sox are going to be “very active,” and they’re already talking to agents.

With the Mets taking on Luis Robert’s $20 million salary for 2026, Chris Getz says “We’ve got financial flexibility now to bring in (more) talent. We’re going to be very active.”

He’s already been talking with agents and clubs.

The Chicago White Sox still need a few arms and a bat to fill out their roster

Having an extra $20 million to spend, Getz and the White Sox have some options on the free agent market to spend on. With the White Sox needing pitching, they could sign free agent right-hander Zac Gallen, who remains unsigned. That likely won’t happen, as Gallen is seeking a longer-term deal and more money.

Other potential options that could fill out that $20 million are right-handers Nick Martinez, Lucas Giolito, or Griffin Canning, whom the White Sox have expressed interest in signing. The White Sox could also use another bat in the outfield now that Robert Jr. is gone, with Andrew Benintendi, Brooks Baldwin, Derek Hill, and Everson Pereira being the options to fill the outfield.

With only a few weeks remaining until the start of spring training, the likelihood of the White Sox spending this $20 million is slim, but it could happen.
