MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) — The Milwaukee Brewers swung an expected deal for ace starting pitcher Freddy Peralta on Wednesday, sending the 29 year old to the New York Mets along with pitcher Tobias Myers in exchange for two of New York’s top prospects.

The Brewers acquired infielder/outfielder Jett Williams and right-handed pitcher Brandon Sproat from the Mets.

Brewers GM Matt Arnold lauded both Peralta and Myers for their contributions to the Brewers over the years. Peralta came to Milwaukee in a trade with Seattle in 2015 and grew from a 19 year old prospect into an All-Star.

He was 70-42 with a 3.59 career ERA and is third on the all-time Brewers strikeout list behind Yovanni Gallardo and Ben Sheets.

Williams is 21 and was a first round pick of the Mets in 2022 out of high school. He was recently listed as the 30th overall prospect in major league baseball.

The 25 year old Sproat was a second round pick in 2023 and is listed ast the fifth-best prospect on the Mets and the 81st overall in MLB.
