Los Angeles placed Garcia on the 15-day injured list June 1, 2025 with a right adductor strain, and designated him for assignment before releasing him upon his return from injury a month later.

The Washington Nationals picked him up a few days later, and they eventually traded him to the Angels at the trade deadline in exchange for two prospects. Garcia had a solid season after leaving the Dodgers, posting a 0.90 ERA in 10 games for the Nationals and a 2.00 ERA in 20 games for the Angels.

Garcia made 58 appearances altogether in 2025, posting a 3.42 ERA through 55.1 innings pitched. He is set to receive a World Series ring following the Dodgers’ triumph in the Fall Classic last season.

How Has Luis Garcia Performed Throughout His Career?

Garcia, a 13-year veteran, has bounced around eight different teams throughout his MLB tenure.

He began his career with the Philadelphia Phillies in 2013, and remained in the NL East through the 2018 season. Garcia had a 4.12 ERA with the Phillies in 251 appearances, striking out 223 batters across 244.2 innings pitched.

The Phillies traded him to the Angels ahead of the 2019 season, and he moved teams almost annually following the move. After the Angels, he played for the Texas Rangers for a season, the St. Louis Cardinals for a season and the San Diego Padres for two seasons.

He found his way back to the Angels for the 2024 season, though they traded him to the Boston Red Sox at the deadline.

Through his 603 career appearances, Garcia has a 4.07 ERA in 583.1 innings.

The veteran will look to add another ring to his collection in 2025 with the Mets, who have made aggressive offseason moves in the past couple of weeks to increase their chances of contending next season.
