KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) – As excited as anyone these days on the University of Tennessee campus is new head baseball coach Josh Elander.
The long time Tennessee assistant was promoted to the position following the departure of Tony Vitello.
Elander was able to calm the fears of his current roster while continuing to recruit top talent to Big Orange Country.
He’s also been able to put together a solid support staff with coaches and assistants who bring a wealth of experience to Rocky Top.
Elander paid a visit to our WVLT studio and sat down with Sports Director Rick Russo to discuss what’s been a whirlwind last few months, what he said during his job interview with Director of Athletics Danny White and the facilities around him which now make Tennessee a destination job for college baseball.
Elander and the Vols open his first season as Tennessee head coach on February 13th, the first of a three game series with Nicholls State.
