Just days after losing Bo Bichette in free agency, another Toronto Blue Jays player has signed a contract elsewhere.

On Friday, ESPN’s Jeff Passan first reported that pitcher Seranthony Dominguez had signed a two-year, $20 million contract with the Chicago White Sox.

The 31-year-old was acquired by the Blue Jays from the Baltimore Orioles in late July, ironically during a season series between the two teams. Toronto got him in exchange for prospect Juaron Watts-Brown.

Immediately following the trade, Dominguez pitched against his former team in back-to-back games, striking out four of six batters he faced.

The Esperanza, Dominican Republic native was a high-leverage reliever for the Blue Jays, appearing in 12 of their 18 postseason games.

Although he had a knack for allowing too many walks or the odd big hit, he was unquestionably a trusted member of the Blue Jays bullpen.

He pitched 1.2 scoreless innings when the Jays beat the New York Yankees in the Divisional Round. Dominguez was also out on the mound in the 10th inning during Game 7 of the World Series. 

In Chicago, he will reportedly be their primary closer. 

Dominguez now joins his fourth team after previously pitching for the Jays, Orioles and Philadelphia Phillies.

The Blue Jays still have five players from their roster who are pending free agents, including veteran pitchers Chris Bassit and Max Scherzer. Infielder Isiah Kiner-Falefa, first baseman Ty France, and seldom-used pitcher Nick Sandlin are the other current Blue Jays who are eligible to sign with any team.
