Today’s roster move: Here
Sunday notes…
MILESTONE REACHED: Today’s game will be the Cubs’ 4,000th since the start of 2000. They have won exactly two more games than they have lost, 2,000 to 1,998, with one tie. In 1901-99, they won 182 more games, 7,738 to 7,556, with 100 ties, for a winning percentage of .506. (Courtesy BCB’s JohnW53)
DAY vs. NIGHT: The Cubs are 30-39 in day games at Great American Ballpark, for a winning percentage of .435. They are 56-59, .487, in night games there. (Courtesy BCB’s JohnW53)
IN THE FIRST INNING: The Cubs or their opponent have scored the first run of the game in the first inning of eight consecutive games, with the Cubs doing it three times and their opponent five. The Cubs are 6-2 in the eight games. (Courtesy BCB’s JohnW53)

Ben Brown.
Goes along well for a start or three and then… boom! He gets hit hard, as he did in his last outing.
The good news is that those generally get followed by better starts.
Brown’s last two starts before he hit the IL in 2024 were both against the Reds. He allowed eight runs in nine total innings, including three home runs. Might have been the injury bothering him at that point, possibly.
Hopefully, today will be better.
Nick Lodolo has thrown well in general this year, and after a rough outing May 3 vs. the Nationals, he’s posted a 3.12 ERA in three starts since then, with three walks and 18 strikeouts in 17⅓ innings.
Lodolo made three starts against the Cubs last year. The first two were pretty good but they hit him hard July 31, 2024 at GABP — eight runs in fewer than five innings.
Ian Happ is 5-for-14 (.364) against Lodolo with two doubles and a home run.

Today’s game is on Marquee Sports Network. You can find out if Marquee is available via a provider in your area here. It’s also on MLB Network (outside the Cubs and Reds market territories).

The 2025 Game Thread procedure will be identical to last year’s.
You’ll find the game preview posted separately on the front page two hours before game time (90 minutes for some early day games following night games).
At the same time, a StoryStream containing the preview will also post on the front page, titled “Cubs vs. (Team) (Day of week/date) game threads.” It will contain every post related to that particular game, including the First Pitch Thread and the overflow thread, as well as the recap when it’s published. The recap will also live on the front page as a separate post.
You will also be able to find the preview, First Pitch Thread and the overflow thread in the box marked “Chicago Cubs Game Threads” at the bottom of the front page (you can also find them in this section link). The StoryStream for each game can also be found in that section.
The First Pitch thread will post at five minutes before game time, then an overflow thread at 90 minutes after the scheduled game time.
Discuss amongst yourselves.
